Who is Ruthie D?
When we first began to think of choosing the right name for our new restaurant, we had several ideas, but nothing seemed to fit. Then we realized that there was one person (who stood out among all others) who deserved the honor of having it named after her, Ruth Duncan – our mother, mother-in-law and grandmother.
Ruth married at a young age and raised a large family of eight children, with a big heart (and sometimes a big paddle). For most of her life, she has lived on a small farm not far from the Lake of the Ozarks. She was widowed in her early 50s and remained on the farm for several years before deciding to move to the Lake and near more conveniences. These days, her spare time is spent gardening, sewing, quilting and most important of all, in enjoyment of her many friends and growing family.
Anyone who knows Ruth will agree that she is a strong spirited, hard-working and unpretentious individual who rarely meets a stranger. It is our hope that her character will be reflected in this establishment and you will feel as welcome here as you would at her own dinner table. Family get-togethers have always been an important part of her life, and we hope that Ruthie D’s will become THE place where you will want to gather to relax and have fun with YOUR family and friends.
